Interviews and Audition
Last Friday, I decided to take a day off and try to audition for a part for “Reality TV”. It’s been a long time since I auditioned for anything. My grandmother is an old fashioned Japanese and didn’t like the idea of me taking a day off, just to audition for a part in TV. The way I look at it, I had nothing to lose. The worst thing they can say is “NO”. If they say “Yes”, then it’s not bad getting $500US for a 1-day pay. Unfortunately, their timing couldn’t get any worse. They asked me whether I was available for Wednesday. That same day, I had a job interview. The supervisor was flying down all the way from Singapore so it was impossible to cancel it.
After the audition, they seemed like they were interested, but I just received an e-mail yesterday and they told me they found someone else. Well, that’s part of show business, and it’s not like I was able to do this anyway on the same day of a job interview (3rd round). So I had to go with common sense anyway.
This week, I have 2 interviews and they are both my final interviews. If I get an offer from either company, I just want to bail and give them my 1-month notice. I worked at this company for almost 3 years and I see there is absolutely no future here.
After I finish the 2 interviews, I will just have to wait. I will have to wait to hear a response from 3 companies. One company asked me to rewrite my resume, so I was at Ian’s place all weekend trying to make a more technical resume. I’m not good in writing technical terms so I needed Ian’s help. I never imagine a manager would go that far to ask me to rewrite my resume. I can imagine a headhunter telling me to do so, but not a manager. Even if I don’t get that position, I appreciate everything he has done for me. Not many managers would go that far. He also told me not to get my hopes up too high because him asking me to fix my resume does not mean that I am hired. I think he has already done enough for me no matter what the outcome.
